Let’s use Google Cloud Platform and Chef – ChefConf 2018 Workshop

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a huge ecosystem of products that can make your infrastructure one of the best supported on the planet. Back in October, we announced a new integration between GCP and Chef to support the ever increasing number of Chef customers using GCP. The Chef Certified GCP cookbooks enable Chef practitioners to quickly, declare and request resources from GCP.

Learn to use GCP and Chef

At ChefConf 2018, Nelson Araujo, a member of technical staff at Google, will co-host an interactive Chef and GCP workshop with me. Let’s use Google Cloud Platform and Chef will start off with using and setting up GCP for your workstation. We’ll walk through gcloud, the main tool to drive GCP, to show the power of GCP from your command line.

From there, we will jump into the Chef integrations: from knife to kitchen, to using the GCP resource cookbooks, then to using terraform to orchestrate setting up infrastructures for your environments; you’ll see the power of GCP, Chef, and driving your online business.

If you are interested in using GCP and Chef, or curious about the integrations we have, this workshop is for you. Sign up to learn how to leverage GCP for your Chef work, and get an introduction to how awesome GCP is. You’re an ideal participant if, you have basic Chef knowledge, are comfortable using text editors and the command line, and have an eagerness to learn something new; or brush up on some things you haven’t thought about in a while.

With this workshop, you’ll gain confidence to use best practices and the power to help your infrastructure development. Just imagine being able to spin up on demand full Dev/QA/Prod environments to drive your development efforts in an inexpensive, efficient manner.
