Join us for the 2017 Chef Community Summits

The Chef Community Summit is a gathering of professionals interested in advancing the state of the art of Continuous Automation with Chef. This October, we will be hosting three Community Summits. They will be held in Seattle October 2-3, in New York City October 5-6, and in London October 10-11. Registration for all three Summits is now available.

The community has previously gathered for a dozen Community Summits. Each Community Summit is unique with specific discussions, decisions, and outcomes driven by the awesome Chef Community.

Seattle & New York City

This year marks our seventh Chef Community Summit in Seattle and our first in New York. This year’s Community Summit will focus on contributing to Chef’s ecosystem of open source software.

The first day of the Summit will consist of updates on the current state of Chef, InSpec, Habitat, and related projects. After the updates, we will host a number of open space discussions. The discussion topics will focus on contributing and improving the contribution process. Community Summit participants will determine these topics and outcomes.

After a day of discussions, we will roll up our sleeves, break out the keyboards, and start hacking on some projects. On day two of the Summit, you’ll have a chance to work with your peers in the community, building and shipping code. Whether this is your first open source contribution or you’ve been contributing for years, there are people here ready to help! Throughout the day, we will demonstrate and celebrate the progress that is being made.

London

This year marks our fourth Chef Community Summit in London. The format of the Community Summit in London will include a number of presentations and demos as well as ample time for community-led, open space discussion topics.

Presenters include Steven Murawski (@stevenmurawski), Cloud Developer Advocate, Microsoft; Aaron Kalin (@martinisoft), DNSimple; Mandi Walls (@lnxchk), Technical Community Manager, Chef; and me, Nathen Harvey (@nathenharvey), VP, Community Development, Chef.

There will be presentations from Chef covering infrastructure automation, compliance automation, and application automation. Additionally, a number of Chef customers will share success stories.

Following the presentations, we’ll have open space discussions. Open spaces allow us to organize discussions around the most important topics of the day. As a Community Summit participant, you will help determine these topics and outcomes.
