Your Guide to the ChefConf Guidebook App

chefconfmobileapp

The official Mobile App for ChefConf 2016 is powered by GuideBook, one of the easiest to use apps we have experienced for events. You can easily download it here! Or, go to the Apple Store or Play Store and search for “ChefConf.”

After you download the ChefConf App, you will need to create an account within the app to enjoy the full experience. Here’s how to get the most out of the features available to you:

Schedule

This is where you’ll find the most up to date and detailed agenda. Go here to find session locations, times, and fun community events. For example, you’ll see that Registration opens on Sunday, July 10th at 4pm in the Ballroom Foyer, Level 4. Register and grab your badge!

Event Feed

This is a fun way to share information and photos with everyone at ChefConf. Post your experiences and insights to the wall and see what other attendees are sharing.

Speakers

Here you’ll find bios for an incredible list of 75+ speakers and instructors joining us in Austin to teach workshops, present mainstage keynotes and breakout sessions.

My Schedule

This feature allows you to select the sessions you want to attend and will create your very own personalized schedule. You’ll also be able to rate each of the sessions you attend!

Floor Maps

ChefConf is happening on all floors of the JW Marriott. Check out the floor map for illustrated hot spots. Not sure what’s happening in Griffin Hall? Click on the location in the app and you will see that it features the exhibit hall, lunches, and evening events.

Twitter

I encourage all #cheffriends to tweet about #hugops at #ChefConf. Take pictures, get weird and have fu!. After all, Austin is all about “keeping it weird”. Tweets using #ChefConf will be featured prominently in the app and on our Social Wall in the Grand Ballroom Foyer on level 4.

Inbox

ChefConf meeting organizers (that’s me!) may occasionally send notices to this inbox regarding certain happenings throughout the event. Don’t worry, we will also tweet, send a daily email and have a few push notifications too – we’ve got you covered with up-to-minute information.

Attendees can also send you messages via this tool. See someone you want to connect with on the attendee list – send them a message!

Community Connect

This is a great way to connect with the Chef Community at ChefConf. All attendees are listed here and you can request to connect with them. You might use it to send a message inviting them for coffee to talk about your recent Chef experience.

Sponsors

The Chef partner ecosystem is extremely important to Chef and our community. See who’s sponsoring and where their booth is located. Many events, including the “Austin on Tap” Welcome Reception and South by ChefConf Happy Hour, are located in the exhibit hall. Hopefully, you’ll have time to talk to all 25 ChefConf sponsors.

Out & About Austin

Never been to Austin? Excited to explore this fun town in your free time? We’ve got some great ideas shared by local Austinites – from eating to drinking, live music and karaoke clubs, we’ve got an Austin map here so you can easily find your way around. Have a great time exploring this amazing town.

Notes

Want to remember a key takeaway during a keynote? A person you just met? The special Austin beer you tasted during the “Austin on Tap” Welcome Reception? Put all your ChefConf related notes here.

General Info

This is the spot to find information on the Bathroom Policy, Weapons Policy and Childcare options. Uber and Lyft are not available in Austin but we’ve listed alternatives here. You’ll also find contact info for event staff and coordinators.

Code of Conduct

Now for the serious and well-meaning business. ChefConf is a community conference intended for networking and collaboration. We value the participation of each member of the Chef community and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout the conference and at all conference events, whether officially sponsored by Chef or not.

To make clear what is expected, all attendees, speakers, exhibitors, organizers, and volunteers at any Chef event are required to conform to the Code of Conduct found in this section of the app. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event.

Beyond the App

We can’t say enough how helpful the ChefConf app can be for navigating your way around the conference, but of course the real magic happens face to face. Allow yourself to tuck your phone and laptop away to listen, learn from, experience and share all that ChefConf and the Chef community has to offer.
