Chef Recognized for “Class-leading” Governance and Compliance Features in Forrester Wave report

On August 10, 2020, Chef was named a Strong Performer in The Forrester Wave™: Infrastructure Automation Platforms, Q3 2020. In particular, the Forrester report stated: “Chef Software’s solution is a good fit for customers that want class-leading governance and compliance features.” We believe this result acknowledges the significant progress Chef has made, along with our customers, in solving difficult compliance challenges in the enterprise.

Compliance automation has become a must-have in any organization’s approach to infrastructure management. Indeed, in the report, Forrester advises customers to look for providers that:

  • “Support rich compliance functionality that goes beyond I&O,”
  • “Advance SecOps with rich vulnerability management capabilities,” including, “out-of-the-box support for CIS and DISA STIGs.”

Chef has invested significant effort in building out a vast library of Chef Premium Certified Content aligned to DISA STIGs and CIS Controls that make it easy for organizations to audit and remediate their environments to these standards.

A poignant line that stood out to us from the Forrester report is the following:

“Reference customers praised Chef Software’s customer support and told us the company is underselling its compliance capabilities.”

We’d like to right that wrong. Chef recently launched Chef Compliance, a purpose-built product to help organizations maintain compliance and prevent security incidents across heterogeneous estates. Industry leaders like Cerner, Optum, and Barclays work with Chef to automate compliance at scale in highly regulated environments. We routinely see teams reduce audit cycle times by 90% or more while delivering higher quality, more secure infrastructure and applications faster.

The Forrester report also stated: “Habitat’s growing maturity improves Chef Software’s application automation story.” At ChefConf 2020, Scott Lappin from Panera Bread talked about the significant improvements they’ve made across the application delivery process, achieving 99.99% uptime for QA environments and reducing app deployment time to their cafes from weeks to hours.

Chef is excited to be helping define the infrastructure automation market, bringing “class-leading” compliance capabilities to organizations worldwide. If you’d like to read the full Forrester report, you can access it here.
