Resolving errors with MacOS Catalina Installer

[Edited with updates October 11, 2019] UPDATE: We have notarized all our packages available for MacOS Catalina. Downloading and installing these packages should no longer cause an error. With the release of MacOS Catalina (10.15) we have become aware of an issue with our omnibus based installers.

ChefDK 0.5.1 Released

Greetings! Just a quick note here – we released ChefDK 0.5.1 which contains a fix for the `chef diff` command raising an `undefined_method` error. It also updates the embedded Chef from version 12.2.1 to 12.3.0. This fixes the issue I highlighted in the 0.5.0 release blog post where OSX users should not use Chef 12.2.

ChefDK 0.4.0 Released!

Ohai Chefs! Today we released ChefDK 0.4.0. As promised in an earlier blog post, this release includes the latest stable version of Chef Client. Other than that, we’ve gone through and updated a lot of packages that ship with ChefDK.  These include: chef 12.0.3 chefspec 4.2.0 chef-provisioning 0.18 chef-provisioning-aws 0.2.1 chef-provisioning-fog 0.12 chef-vault 2.4.

Chef Client Repo Force Push to Master – Post Mortem

Ohai Chefs! On November 19th a Chef branch was accidentally force pushed to master on Github, causing existing pull requests to include unnecessary diffs. We discovered the issue, rolled the git tree back to the correct state, and applied the commits which were originally meant to be included.
