Announcing Chef Automate on Azure Stack

Today, we are excited to announce the availability of Chef Automate on Azure Stack, via Marketplace Syndication.

Chef Automate on Azure Stack

Microsoft Azure Stack brings the flexibility, scalability and reliability of the Azure public cloud to private, on-premises infrastructures. With this announcement, Microsoft Azure operations, development, security and compliance teams can take advantage of Chef Automate to build, deploy, and manage infrastructure with speed, efficiency and quality. Azure Stack teams can detect, correct, and automate application delivery through a common platform that takes advantage of the flexibility, scalability, and reliability of the Azure cloud with the security and control of a private implementation. Chef Automate has been available via the public Azure Marketplace since earlier this year and since June in the Azure US Government environment.

Cloud Consistency

Azure Stack’s Marketplace functionality allows administrators an easy way to discover, download and make available approved Azure Marketplace images to their Azure Stack tenants, using the ‘Add from Azure’ feature, available in Marketplace Management.

Chef Automate is distributed on Azure as a “Bring Your Own License” (BYOL) solution and we are pleased to be able to extend this to Azure Stack. When installing Chef Automate on Azure Stack you will get a consistent experience compared to public Azure, and you will able to deploy directly from the Portal, or using Azure Resource Manager templates. Azure Stack Marketplace makes it easy for administrators to publish Chef Automate to their team so they can install Automate into their infrastructure as a driver for their own continuous automation projects.

Finally, we are also working on making our Chef VM Extension available on Azure Stack to offer complete consistency across cloud environments, whether you are deploying in public or on-premises cloud environments.
